Last Chance to Participate in Ohio Medicaid's Managed Care RFI Due July 31

 

This is a final reminder to respond to the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM)’s request for information (RFI) to provide important feedback to the agency about Ohio Medicaid’s managed care program as it begins the re-procurement process with managed care plans. The July 31 deadline is rapidly approaching and we’re encouraging EVERYONE affected by the program to participate including your staff, referral sources, customers, caregivers, physicians, vendors and more. 

Tips for completing the RFI: 

• Only answer the questions relevant to you.  The RFI is lengthy (almost 40 questions) but not all to be answered to respond. 
• Provide specific information when possible; for example: claims adjudication issues your company is dealing with and what that means to your operations, staff and referral sources; barriers to care issues as a result of policies; your perspective on sole source contracts, the impact on your local business and Medicaid clients regarding choice and access.
• Be constructive and productive. Refrain from using this as a complaint forum but rather a forward-thinking, creative, innovative opportunity to share your experience to improve the program.
• Explain concerns (questions 13 and 14) regarding the lack of standardization between Medicaid’s fee-for-service and managed care programs exacerbated by patient migration frequency. One of the primary purposes for OAMES’ managed care legislation this year was to mandate that MCPs follow the Medicaid DME rules published in Ohio Administrative Code chapter 5160-10.
