In 2018, VGM coordinated a survey which resulted in HME advocates being able to provide elected officials, payers and regulators the actual cost to HME providers of delivering quality products to a patient’s home or institution. This data led to some reimbursement relief and emerging recognition by these decision-makers of insufficient payment structures relative to the cost of delivery.
As the pandemic continues, HME providers will play a critical, frontline role in patient care and minimizing hospitalizations. We encourage members and non-members to participate in the 2021 Delivery Cost Survey developed by VGM to reflect changes affecting the HME benefit, particularly during the public health emergency and the effects on cost of goods and strain on the supply chain.
