Complex Rehab Technology Legislation Gains Support in House and Senate

Legislation has been introduced in Congress (in both the House and Senate) to provide appropriate recognition and coverage of Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) by creating a Separate Benefit Category within the Medicare program. The bills are HR 942 and S. 948, the "Ensuring Access to Quality Complex Rehabilitation Technology Act of 2013".

NCART has reported that in the last month, 19 House co-sponsors and three Senate co-sponsors have been added to the CRT legislation now bringing the total number of House co-sponsors on HR 942 to 128 and 15 Senate members signed on to S-948.

If you're a CRT provider, please help gain sponsors on these important bills.  Legislators from Ohio who have signed on to HR 942 include:  Rep. Joyce Beatty, Rep. Bill Johnson, Rep. David Joyce, Rep. Steve Stivers and Rep. Pat Tiberi. As of 5/27/2014, neither Sen. Sherrod Brown or Senator Rob Portman have signed on to the Senate bill.

This legislation is supported by several national organizations working collaboratively with the CRT community including NCART, American Association for Homecare, Clinician Task Force, NRRTS, RESNA and the United Spinal Association.
