AAHomecare Reports Positive Development on Binding Bids Legislation

This afternoon, the binding bid legislation took another huge step in the legislative process. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a statement estimating that enacting H.R. 284 would increase revenues by about $1 million over the 2015-2025 period. The legislation could affect direct spending, but CBO estimates those effects would not be significant.

Read the full CBO statement here.

H.R. 284 would help prevent speculative bidding by banning non-binding bids and requiring proof of licensure.

The next step for this bill is to be brought to the House floor for a vote, and AAHomecare is working with House leadership on this expedited process. This is a major step for the HME industry. We will keep the industry appraised of any breaking developments.

OAMES Note: Currently 8 of Ohio's 16 Congressional representatives have signed on to co-sponsor HR 284. Those legislators are:  Rep. Bob Gibbs (R), Rep. Bill Johnson (R), Rep. Jim Jordan (R), Rep. Dave Joyce (R), Rep. Bob Latta (R), Rep. Tim Ryan (D), Rep. Steve Stivers (R) and Rep. Pat Tiberi (R).
