The last month has been a whirl wind…and not in a fun way. But here we are. This webinar will bring the participants up to date on what has transpired so far…and what to predict. Specifically, we will summarize the most important legal developments, arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic, that are relevant to pharmacies and DME suppliers. These include (i) discussions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act, Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act, and Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”); (ii) discussion of the Provider Relief Fund and the “catch” associated with receiving money from the fund; (iii) review of the relaxation of rules associated with telehealth; (iv) review of actions by the FDA, State Boards of Pharmacy and PBMs to loosen up restrictions on pharmacies; (iv) discussion actions by CMS to relax coverage and documentation requirements imposed on DME suppliers; and (v) discussion of fraudulent schemes that are starting to appear. Equally as important, this program will “gaze into the crystal ball” and predict (i) federal and state laws that will come into existence in the near future to deal with COVID-19 and (ii) which of the legal changes we have seen over the last month will be permanent…and which will go away after the pandemic is under control.
 Learning Objectives –

  • Understand the most important provisions of recent federal legislation pertaining to COVID-19.
  • Understand the conditions on which a provider can retain money from the Provider Relief Fund.
  • Recognize the relaxed telehealth requirements.
  • Predict federal and state laws that will come into existence in the near future to deal with COVID-19.
