DETAILS
As a follow up to AAHomecare’s May 2022 “Introduction to Woundcare” webinar, this webinar will do a deeper dive into the concerns and questions regarding coverage of surgical dressings under the Medicare FFS benefit.
This presentation provides advanced level information on:
- Woundcare coverage requirements
- Situations where dressings are not covered or separately reimbursed
- Woundcare common errors
- Woundcare audits and various auditing bodies
- Tools available to assist with audits
- Various resources to assist providers and suppliers
- E-prescribing platforms and opportunities
Proper wound care plays an integral role in both preventing further trauma to a wound and helping one heal. Durable Medical Equipment (DME) companies work closely with wound clinics and other referral sources to help end users manage their wounds in a home-based setting, providing surgical dressings, education, and support. Surgical dressings are covered by Medicare Part B, Medicaid, and other insurance when medically necessary.
By working together to ensure that the coverage criteria is met and documentation errors are prevented, prescribers and suppliers can minimize disruption to patient access, streamline the order processes, and lessen the risk and impact of audits.
The Webinar is part of an educational series by AAHomecare’s Woundcare Work Group and is being offered on a complimentary basis to the DME Industry and other woundcare stakeholders.
