CMS Confirms On-Site Accreditation Visits Remain on Hold

Last week, the American Association for Homecare shared news that they had received clarification from CMS that accrediting organizations (AOs) are allowed to resume reaccreditation surveys but they are only allowed to conduct on-site visits if the survey can be conducted safely and with supplier approval.

Today, AAHomecare reported that CMS clarified that the AOs are not resuming normal survey activity at this time and will not until CMS provides additional directions to the AOs. The supplier community will be notified when CMS directs AOs to resume normal reaccreditation activity, but at this time DMEPOS reaccreditation is postponed under the 1135 waiver authority. However, suppliers should still be complying with accreditation requirements during this Public Health Emergency.
