AAHomecare Expands Work on Right to Repair and Diabetes/CGM Issues

Source: American Association for Homecare Insider 10/19/22

AAHomecare continually scans the HME environment to identify areas of challenge for providers and for opportunities to develop education, resources, and policy initiatives to help our industry respond. The Association is prepared to expand our scope when needed, as we have recently done with the formation of the Diabetes Council and bringing together Complex Rehab Technology leaders on wheelchair repair issues.

On October 12, industry stakeholders gathered in Arlington, VA to develop a strategy to address newly developing Complex Rehab Technology wheelchair repair issues, including increased “right to repair” legislative activity at the Federal and state level. The group laid the foundation for a unified, proactive approach for 2023 and beyond.

The following day, the industry’s top diabetes and CGM companies convened, tackling a robust agenda which included discussion on the benefits of the DME channel for access and compliance to diabetes device therapy, post PHE strategies for treating patients on CGM therapy, and state tax issues for CGM devices. This new Council will already be submitting letters to CMS and comments on an LCD all within their first two months of forming, with plans to tackle many other initiatives in the near future.
