Ohio Medicaid Analyzing Impact of ICD-10 Delay

On March 31, 2014, the United States Senate passed H.R. 4302, the Protecting Access to Medicare Act 2014.  The bill was signed into law by President Obama on April 1, 2014.   The enactment of the ICD-10 code set had a mandated October 1, 2014 implementation. The law delays ICD-10 implementation until at least October 1, 2015.

As a result of this development, OAMES reached out to the ICD-10 Project Team at the Ohio Department of Medicaid to request a status of how this would impact their work. Melissa Little responded that "Ohio Medicaid is analyzing the impacts of this delay and will publish updates by e-mail and to the ICD-10 webpage  (http://medicaid.ohio.gov/PROVIDERS/Billing/ICD10.aspx) as more information becomes available".

We encourage members to check back to the ODM website for further updates and we'll share any news the association receives from the ODM ICD-10 Project Team moving forward.  For your convenience, you'll find the site linked in the "Resources" section of OAMES website under "Medicaid".

This topic will also be on the agenda for OAMES Fall Medicaid Training Seminar scheduled September 10 at Quest Business Center in Columbus.
