Today Governor Kasich named a new leadership team to lead the Ohio Department of Health, turning to an experienced manager with health care experience -- Rick Hodges -- and an experienced clinician -- Dr. Mary Applegate -- to work together to elevate both the agency's operational effectiveness as well as its medical expertise.
A former state legislator, Hodges has served in a range of management roles including in senior roles in health care organizations in Northwest Ohio. Dr. Applegate will work with Hodges to recruit a team of clinical professionals who bring the best medical knowledge to inform all aspects of Health's work, then resume her role at Medicaid once the team is in place.
