ODM Adds Buckeye as Medicaid Managed Care Organization

Buckeye Community Health Plan will join the six previously announced Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) for the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM).  The agency announced last Friday that Buckeye will be added to the list of MCPs after the settlement of a lawsuit against parent company Centene.  Centene agreed to pay $88 million to settle the lawsuit in June after vigorously opposing the lawsuit initially.

Buckeye joins a list of seven contract winners including fellow incumbents UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Ohio, Molina Healthcare of Ohio and CareSource Ohio, as well as Humana Health Plan of Ohio, AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

OAMES continues to monitor developments and share news with members as we learn more.  For additional details, visit ODM’s managed care procurement website.
